The Organization of SMUD Employees (OSE) is proud to be a member-owned, member-operated organization that ensures every voice is heard.

Our dedicated Board of Directors is at the heart of our efforts, working tirelessly to represent and support the diverse interests of our members. Our Board is made up of experienced and committed leaders elected by members to guide OSE’s mission.

President and Executive Director, Danette Shipley

Leads meetings, oversees organizational direction, and ensures financial integrity.

Vice President, Aaron Cager

Assists the President and takes on leadership in their absence.

Treasurer, Jennifer Harris-Evans

Manages finances, prepares financial reports, and ensures transparency in all transactions.

Secretary, Tami Hayes

Maintains records of meetings, manages correspondence, and supports organizational communication.

At OSE, we believe in the power of member participation. Here's what you need to know about joining the Board or voting for your representatives:

  • Nominations: Open every September at the Board of Directors meeting. Candidates can be nominated by the Nominating/Election Committee or from the floor (with a signed acceptance letter).

  • Eligibility: Members in good standing can be nominated. Candidates for President/Executive Director must have served on the Board for at least one year within the previous four years.

  • Voting: Conducted via secret ballot in October. Only active members in good standing are eligible to vote. Results are posted by November 30, with newly elected members installed at the Annual Membership Meeting in January​​.
